Training Before and After [article] |
|
“We are the owners of a one year old wheaten terrier, Lamar, a friendly but extremely energetic dog. While he listened well to us at home, we learned he was ignoring all other adults while at daycare and did not respect the "personal space" of other dogs. BHV recommended Lamar attend one-on-one training sessions with their in-house trainer, Krichele. We were skeptical, but agreed...
Krichele worked with Lamar several times a week over the course of three weeks. After two sessions we noticed a remarkable change. Lamar would “place” (i.e. remain seated in a designated spot) until given the command to do otherwise. Additionally, he would maintain eye contact even while distracted. After two weeks of training, we were informed by the staff at BHV that Lamar was a “born again good citizen” and would not only listen to their commands but also play well with others. Most impressively, Krichele was able to train Lamar without changing his fun-loving personality.
As an added bonus to what Krichele has done for Lamar, the staff at BHV continue to work with him, reinforcing her training techniques while at daycare. For anyone considering training for your dog, we highly recommend Krichele and the staff at Barking Hound Village.”
